Overview

TBE v1.0.0 is the finished standalone release of Thread-Based Engineering as a deterministic execution engine for bounded agent work. The product identity is no longer just a draft spec or reference CLI; it now ships as a stable engine with a frozen v1 command surface and compatibility contract.

The engine is built around deterministic thread execution, explicit local policy gates for side effects, content-addressed evidence artifacts, and replay so prior sessions can be verified against current outcomes instead of being reconstructed from chat logs.

The repository still contains schema and spec material, but the primary shipped product is the local execution engine and its stable JSON contract surface for validate, status, export, run, plan, dry-run, and replay flows.

What ships

  • Stable v1 CLI surface: init, validate, status, export, replay, run, version, help
  • Three execution modes: run, --plan, and --dry-run
  • Fail-closed local policy model for read_file, write_file, and exec effects
  • Content-addressed evidence artifacts plus replay verification
  • Canonical workflows for safe repo generation, controlled exec, and named artifact pipelines

Focus areas

  • execution
  • policy
